Towards the Local Government Elections 2012

Welsh Labour’s preparations for the 2012 council elections are well underway. Hundreds of delegates came together in Cardiff in October to discuss campaigning, election strategy and policy for the polls to be  held in May 2012.

The party has published “Improving Services Together in Wales” as a document to help guide local parties on core messages. At the 2012 elections Welsh Labour will be :

  • Improving Services Together,
  • Providing Community leadership in tough times,
  • Delivering Renewal and Reform,
  • Promoting Equality, safe streets, social justice, greener and cleaner communities,
  • Best practice employers promoting social partnership,
  • Delivering good value services that meet Community Priorities.

Throughout Wales our 22 local government units will be preparing local manifestos.

We are however keen to discuss with stakeholder groups any issues they wish to raise with Welsh labour prior to the elections. The deliberations can then be fed in to our Welsh labour Annual Conference to be held in February 2012.

Please contact Martin Eaglestone, our Welsh Policy Officer to set up discussions.
